How it works

Water flows through 16 stages of water purification:

Stage 1, water passes through a 5 micron solid water filter and carbon cartridge to remove volatile organic carbon compounds (VOCs), pesticides, insecticides, and industrial solvents, and particles larger than 5 micrometers, including sediment, silt, sand, and dirt. It also helps to extend the life of the system.

Stage 2, water passes through a 0.2 micron ultrafiltration (UF) membrane. Ultrafiltration (UF) is an important purification technology used for the production of highly pure water. UF is effective for removing colloids, proteins, bacteria, viruses, parasite protozoa, and pyrogens (e.g., gram-negative bacterial endotoxins), other organic molecules larger than 0.2 microns, and most other contaminants in the water.

Stage 3, water flows through a 1-micron filter pad (1 micron equals 1/25,000 of an inch), which removes suspended particles such as silt, sediment, cysts (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), sand, rust, dirt, and other unresolved matters.

Stage 4, water passes through granular activated carbon (GAC). GAC is widely recognized and used as an effective adsorbent for a variety of organic contaminants, such as chlorine (99.9%), cancer-linked chemicals (THMs, benzene) pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), PCBs, MTBEs, and hundreds of other chemical contaminants that may be present in water and also bad taste and odor.

Stage 5, water flows through the ion exchange, which reduces heavy metals such as lead, copper, aluminum, and the hardness of the water.

Stages 6 and 7, water flows through 2 beds of redox (Oxidation/reduction process) media made of a specially high purity and alloy mixture of two different metals - copper and zinc. Represents a new and unique water treatment media that through its natural process of electrochemical oxidation/reduction and adsorption reduces and removes many unwanted contaminants from water. This is a major advance in water purification technology that works as an electrochemical process called, spontaneous oxidation-reduction - (Eagle Redox Alloy ®) principles. Chlorine is instantaneously oxidized. Iron and hydrogen sulfide are oxidized to insoluble material and attached to the surface of the filter media. Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, copper, nickel, chrome, cadmium, aluminum, and other dissolved metals are removed from the water through the natural process of electrochemical process. They are attracted to the surface of the media, much like a magnet. The process inhibits bacterial growth throughout the unit.

Stage 8, water flows through another one-micron filtration pad for further reduction of unwanted particles. The final result is a significant elimination of a variety of contaminants.

Stage 9, water passes through a membrane that removes and filters particles as small as 1/10,000 of a micron such as most inorganic chemicals (e.g. salts, metals, minerals) most microorganisms, including Cryptosporidium and Giardia, and most inorganic contaminants.

Stages 10 and 15, water continues through a new one-micron filter pad (1 micron equals 1/25,000 of an inch), which removes suspended particles such as silt, sediment, cysts (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), sand, rust, dirt, and other unresolved contaminants.

Stages 11 and 12, water flows through another bed of filter media made of a specially high purity alloy, a mixture of two different metals - copper and zinc. It is a major advance in water purification technology and works on electrochemical and spontaneous oxidation-reduction (Eagle Redox Alloy ®) principles. Chlorine is instantaneously oxidized.

Stage 13, water flows through another ion exchanger, reducing heavy metals such as lead, copper, aluminum, and the hardness of the water.

Stage 14, water passes through granular activated carbon (GAC).

Stage 16, water passes through an ultraviolet water sterilization system manufactured with an axial-flow reactor in 304 stainless steel. The hard glass Germicidal lamps provide an economical way to treat water that requires a 99.99% reduction of bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. This process occurs without adding any harmful chemicals to drinking water, which is the most ecological way to treat water.

Reverse osmosis water purification system comes with a complete installation kit and includes

1 European lead-free long-designed water mixer, 4-liter stainless steel pressurized holding tank with an inner wall of polypropylene with a 12-liter capacity. Also included are color-coded hoses, filter cartridges, ultrafiltration membranes, RO membranes, keys, and installation hardware. Note that optional special filter cartridges are available as an addition, e.g., fluoride, nitrates, arsenic, etc.

What is Ultra Filtration?

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a membrane filtration process similar to reverse osmosis using hydrostatic pressure to force water through a semi-permeable membrane. The pore size of the ultrafiltration membrane is typically 103 - 106 Dalton. Ultrafiltration (UF) is a pressure-driven barrier to produce water with very high purity and low density. Ultrafiltration (UF) is a form of membrane filtration, in which hydrostatic pressure forces a liquid against a semi-permeable membrane. Suspended solids and dissolved substances with high molecular weight are retained, while water and low molecular weight solutes pass through the membrane.
